It’s always nice when Hollywood stars use their fame in order to make the world a better place, and Toni Collette has become the latest one to do so. Because the actress has just been named Global Ambassador for humanitarian charity Concern Worldwide. And she hopes to use her profile to raise awareness about the charity’s campaigns to help the world’s poorest people. As part of her duties, Collette will travel to 25 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East to witness the organization’s work first hand and bring much-needed attention to the cause. Speaking today, she said: “I am deeply honored to join Concern as their first Global Ambassador.”I know I am becoming part of a global team of men and women committed to transforming care and empathy into real, direct and effective action that creates lasting change in the lives of some of the world’s poorest people.” Collette helped with a 2012 appeal for the charity, which helps people in countries affected by war, conflict, poverty and natural disaster
