Film Festival Puts Spotlight On Family

A two-day film festival organised by the Hassan Film Society and Samanvaya Manujamath group in Hassan witnessed discussion on Indian cinemas and the way they handled the issue of family. As many six movies of different Indian languages were screened in the festival attended by around 60 people from different parts of the State. K. Phaniraj, writer and activist, speaking at the inauguration of the festival on Saturday, said that Samanvaya Manujamatha, a WhatsApp group of like-minded people, began the series of film festivals in Kuppali in 2015. Since then the members of the group spread over different places have organised film festivals in Hassan, Udupi, Mangaluru.
