The moment you turn on the radio, you switch to your favourite channel that promises melodious songs, which also include yesteryear’s iconic numbers sung by Mohammad Rafi, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar and so on. But more often than not, you have to listen to party numbers by Badshah, Honey Singh, Meet Brothers and a few more, where there is less of creativity and more of objectification of a particular gender. And unfortunately, the listeners of such songs are more. That’s why the life of these songs is short.
Amid the current music scenario, Dear Zindagi’s album comes as a breath of fresh air, promising that authentic music is still not lost. The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt has some beautiful tracks. Its music has been composed by Amit Trivedi, and like always, he weaves magic through his tunes yet again. Kausar Munir, the lyricist, has written sensible and relatable songs making the album simplistic that automatically gets registered at the back of your mind.
