Mumbai: 'No Gynaecs In Rural Areas To Provide Basic Delivery Services'

Mumbai: An audit carried out by the state government of all maternal deaths, including those during medical termination of pregnancy (MTPs), have found three main causes behind the deaths. "Those are delay in decision-making, transporting and intervention. In most families, it is husband or in-laws, and not the woman, who makes a decision about terminating the pregnancy often causing a fatal delay," said assistant director Dr ND Deshmukh from Directorate of Health Services (DHS).
