"A Movie is a Reflection of Culture, From an Immigrant to an Earthling"
Director of Asia Media Culture Factory and FreePort, MahbubAlam is a Korean born in Bangladesh. He has worked to present the perspective of Korean society towards immigrants, as a movie producer and an actor in various movies, including City of Crane, Love in Korea and Bandhobi. He has won many prestigious awards such as the 31stSejong Culture Awards in Culture Diversity for his artistic endeavors.
Sandra de Castro Buffington, director of the Norman Lear Center's Hollywood, Health & Society program, moderated this discussion which brought top TV producers, writers and performers together with key Washington policymakers to focus on how global health is portrayed in entertainment media. Panelists included actress Mariska Hargitay and executive producer Neal Baer from Law & Order: SVU.
