Can't Wait For These 8 Women-Centric Films To Hit The Screens In 2017

Thanks to the likes of immensely talented actors Vidya Balan, Kangana Ranaut and Alia Bhatt, Bollywood is no longer taking its female leads for any less than their male counterparts. More directors and producers are coming forward to make films that are women-centric putting their protagonists in the driver’s seats. With the critical and commercial successes of films like Dear Zindagi, Queen, Kahaani, The Dirty Picture, Neerja, Pink it's only that much clearer that Bollywood and the Indian audience is ready for accepting women to be the focus of a film. On that note; here are 8 women-centric films that we just cannot wait to see hit the screens in 2017.

Shantanu Ray Chaudhuri is a film buff and an editor. Books commissioned and edited by him have won the National Award for Best Book on Cinema twice and the inaugural MAMI (Mumbai Academy of Moving Images) Award for Best Writing on Cinema. In 2017, he was named Editor of the Year by the apex publishing body, Publishing Next. He has written for the online magazine Film Companion. He is a consultant, writer and editor for the newly launched film website Cinemaazi.com. He is the author of two books: Whims – A Book of Poems (published by Writers Workshop) and Icons from Bollywood (published by Penguin/Puffin).
