Film Festival Highlights Work Of Deaf Community

Jules Dameron, an award-winning deaf filmmaker from Los Angeles, is thrilled to be in Rochester this week to headline the community's Deaf Rochester Film Festival, and to be in the audience. “I look forward to previewing the films,” said Dameron, about the festival’s youth competition, called the Junior Deaf Rochester Film Festival. “I am highly supportive of encouraging young deaf filmmakers to thrive and find ways to tell their stories.” The youth portion of the four-day festival will be held March 23 and will feature student filmmakers from the Rochester School for the Deaf, the California School for the Deaf and the Rocky Mountain Deaf School in Denver.
