Singer/actress Jennifer Lopez was inspired to start her own charity for women and children following a frightening health scare with her daughter.

The “On the Floor” hitmaker was one of the honourees at Variety magazine’s Power of Women luncheon last Friday (10Oct14), where she was recognised for her organisation the Lopez Family Foundation, which aims to improve the health and well-being of women and children. Lopez revealed she came up with the idea for the charity when she needed immediate medical care for her daughter, Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
