Santa Fe Film Festival Explores The Role Of Drones In Filmmaking

It’s a bird; it’s a plane – no, and it’s not a superhero, either. It’s a drone, and it may be making movies. 
Sending a camera up on a drone is one of the hot new ways filmmakers are experimenting with different angles and techniques in their craft, according to NaNi Rivera, executive director of the Santa Fe Film Festival. “It’s a very fast and growing trend,” she said, adding that three people on the festival staff already have bought one.  It shouldn’t be a surprise then, that one of the featured events for the festival, which opens Wednesday and runs through Dec. 5, is a “Game of Drones.”
