“Serena”announced as the opening film of 16th Mumbai film Festival
by The Daily Eye Team October 1 2014, 6:10 pm Estimated Reading Time: 1 min, 10 secsMumbai: October 1, 2014: As the city’s most eagerly awaited cultural event, the 16th Mumbai Film Festival, organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image draws closer, it has been revealed that this edition of the festival will kick start with the screening of “Serena”,directed by Susanne Bier starring, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper as its Opening Film.
Serena was filmed over eight weeks on location in and around Prague, the Czech Republic during the spring of 2012. The story begins with North Carolina Mountains at the end of the 1920s – George and Serena Pemberton, love-struck newly-weds who begin to build a timber empire. Serena soon proves herself to be equal to any man: overseeing loggers, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man’s life in the wilderness. With power and influence now in their hands, the Pembertons refuse to let anyone stand in the way of their inflated love and ambitions. However, once Serena discovers George’s hidden past and faces an unchangeable fate of her own, the Pemberton’s passionate marriage begins to unravel leading toward a dramatic reckoning.
The 16th edition of the Mumbai film festival organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) will be held from 14-21 October 2014 at PVR Cinema Andheri and Cinemax Versova as the main venue. The festival has a lineup of about 185 films from over 65 countries.
