The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor James Avery dies at 68

ames Avery best known for playing Uncle Phil in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which launched the acting career of Will Smith, has died at the age of 68
James Avery, the bulky character actor who laid down the law at home and on the job as the Honorable Philip Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, has died at the age of 68.
Avery’s publicist, Cynthia Snyder, said that Avery died Tuesday in Glendale, California, following complications from open heart surgery.
