There’s a lot done to promote the cause of women empowerment; from videos to ad campaigns to awareness conferences. Though these initiatives have their hearts in the right place (figuratively) they fail to convince me of the seriousness of the issue. And it’s not just because the initiative aren’t good enough, but also because I could never really relate to the celebs championing the cause. May be because I don’t see them doing anything beyond these initiatives, anything that would set the right examples. And I wondered if there was any B-Town celeb who could truly be the face of women empowerment until I heard Sonakshi Sinha say this… “Women empowerment is not always about the kind of clothes you wear, not about who you want to have sex with or stuff like that. It’s about employment, strength. It’s a very good initiative. It’s coming from a good space, but honestly I believe empowerment should be given to the women who actually need it.”
