One on one with the showman himself, Mr Subhash Ghai

The team at ACEE contacted Mr. Subhash Ghai on the 36th anniversary of Mukta Arts . We discussed
his upcoming project “Kaanchi”, a powerful drama that narrates a bold woman’s journey. He also
shared his thoughts on our initiative, The Third Eye.

Question 1: What is your film Kaanchi about?

SG: Kaanchi, an aggressive beauty from Uttarakhand realizes the heat
of corrupt power deforesting their valleys for their business
interest and killing her kins . she refuses submission and takes up
a mission alone to dethrone this ruling power of politics and money
and enters into their private mansions. Her acts inspire millions of
suppressed youth of India with a message “fear no evil, do whats is
right and fight for the right”

Question 2: What sort of social impact do you wish to create on the
Indian Woman through your film?

SG: Kaanchi tells “ Every woman has to empower herself than begging
for empowerment always in the society of evils. It has to be face
to face.

Question 3: How do you think Kaanchi would impact the thinking of other
film makers in regard to the traditional approach of making a commercial success?

SG:Kaanchi is a musical drama with a powerful theme embroidered with
beautiful music and entertaining characters knitted in the story. So
it brings a balance of a good commercial film in my own style of
narrative .

Question 4: How effective do you think as a medium films are to create
social impact?

SG: 3 idiots , Vicky Donor, Iqbaal,Tare Zameen Par, Bhag Milkha Bhag ,OMG and
many more are truly example to create a social impact .. when you have
strong subject with true intentions, it works, even if it’s a
commercial entertainer.

Question 5: What is your perspective on an initiative like The Third Eye?

SG: Since it is the helpline for the creative forces of the South Asian
Film and Television Industry for research and accurate information, I
am sure film makers like me can expect a lot for the support as and
when they want an extensive research work in the toughest idea or story
they are inspired to make.
