Zaira Wasim and Abhishek Bachchan grace ‘The Golf Foundation Pro-Am Championship 2017’

The Golf Foundation proudly hosted it’s 5th edition of ‘The Pro-Am Championship’ organized by Digraj Golf Inc along with ace Indian golfer Amit Luthra. An event which seeks to raise funds to help and promote upcoming golfers saw in attendance Bollywood actor and sports enthusiast Abhishek Bachchan, actor Zaira Wasim, Charu Sharma and eminent golfers of our country including the recent winner of the Crompton Greaves Open - M Dharma. 

The tournament was organized with an aim to help young and under-privileged golfers who are passionate, highly dedicated and dream of making it big in golf on national and international platforms.

The esteemed prize distribution ceremony commenced with an inspirational speech from Mr. Amit Luthra. 

The winners of the Team event were the team of Professional Golfer Amardeep Malik who was partnered by amateurs Ashish Chemburkar, Ratish Balan and Ashish Chemburkar, who is also the Captain of BPGC. The best Individual Professional Golfer was the young talented Karandeep Kochhar who shot a score of 64.  Karandeep received Rs 50,000 from the Golf Foundation for his impeccable performance at the tournament.

Speaking about the initiative and the event, Amit Luthra-Founder CEO, The Golf Foundation, Asian Games Gold Medalist & Arjun Awardee said, “I feel very blessed. By the grace of God, & thanks a wonderful like- minded golfing buddies supporting me, a humble effort to do a little bit has now become a successful project.  We were humbled by being conferred the prestigious "Rashtriya Khel Protshan Puraskar" by the President of India a few months back.  India has seen some exceptional golfing talent emerge on the Indian, Asian, European & also the World scene”.

“It's also a blessing to have understanding and caring sponsors like Tata Trust (development partners), Allweiler, STL Fasteners, SRF, Holtec, etc and furthermore celebrities like Abhishek and Zaria come and support our efforts and we are grateful to them. I invite anyone and everyone to come forward and lend us a hand under CSR & 80G. India has the talent and we can jointly help it develop.”

Set up in 2000, The Golf Foundation is a Registered Charitable Society started by like-minded golfers who wanted to give back to the game through promoting a huge pool of untapped talent in the country. The Golf Foundation’s objective is to create a global footprint of Indian Golf with young underprivileged and talented junior golfers since they are highly motivated, hardworking, dedicated to the game and have the fire in their belly to excel at National and International levels.

Over the years, the Foundation has already brought about a positive change in the lives of financially deprived and exceptionally talented kids, who are and will be medal winners for the country. The Golf Foundation’s success is proven by the fact that internationally acclaimed golfers such as Ashok Kumar, Rashid Khan and Chikkarangappa are beneficiaries of the Foundation. These acclaimed players in turn are involved indirectly in providing technical support to the new emerging talent of the Foundation.
