Jewish, French Film Festivals Return To Lower Hudson Valley

The Academy Awards recently honored the best of the best in motion pictures but Hollywood is not the only place celebrating great films. Our own local film season is right around the corner, with films for a wide variety of fans, from Jewish Film Festivals to Focus on French Cinema to festivals focused
Held at Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, this year’s festival features 34 films from Israel and around the world — documentaries and narratives — along with appearances by special guests including director and Oscar-nominated screen writer Elaine May, whose collaborations with legendary director Mike Nichols include "The Birdcage" and "Primary Colors."May’s own directorial exploits ("Ishtar,""The Heartbreak Kid,""Mikey and Nicky," and "The New Leaf") are all being screened at this year’s festival. She joins producer Julian Schlossberg for a question and answer session on March 31.
