With global warming increasingly influencing the climate pattern, government agencies and policymakers should adopt proactive short and long-term strategies to mitigate the adversities of weather-related disasters, speakers at a workshop on ?Climate change resilient plantation crops? have said. Policies and programmes should be implemented with people?s participation to minimise losses due to weather-related disasters, G.S.L.H.V. Prasada Rao, consultant professor at the Mannuthy-based Centre for Animal Adaptation to Environment and Climate Change Studies, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, said. Prof. Rao was addressing the 33rd zonal workshop of the Research and Extension Advisory Council at the Kerala Agricultural University?s Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS) at Pilicode on Friday
