Duluth Superior Film Festival Highlights The Region, Women & Native Americans

Matthew Dressel found award-winning inspiration while traveling the backroads of Michigan as a teenager. What if a deer hunter's bullet went off its mark and hit a car, he wondered. "I planted that seed, then forgot about it for awhile," he said during a recent phone interview. Years later, while living in Los Angeles, a script was born. "The Other Man" considers the what-ifs of a Coens'-style darkly humored thriller and recently won the annual IFP Minnesota Screenwriting Residency — a $10,000 prize — and will likely go into production later this year.
