Martin Scorsese To Receive 2015 Lumière Award

The Oscar-winning director behind “Goodfellas” and “Raging Bull” will receive the honor this October. The 7th annual Lumière Film Festival will honor filmmaker Martin Scorsese with this year’s Lumière Award. Past winners include Pedro Almodóvar, Quentin Tarantino and Miloš Forman. The Lumière Award was created by Cannes director Thierry Frémaux and filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier to celebrate a cinematic director or personality in the city of Lyon, the very place where the cinematograph was invented by Louis and Auguste Lumière and where they shot their first film in 1895, “Workers Leaving the Factory.”
