Politics and public health are two sides of the same coin and both remain integral to the survival and improvement of Indian health care and health systems.” – Dr. Edmond Fernandes. Health is a complex subject in a country like India where glaring contradictions exist. Nevertheless, great attempts have been made to improvise and achieve levels of health which can be considered basic and decent by civilians. India has emerged through the chaos of World War II and popular Governments from Post-Independence India have made honest attempts to understand this structure through creating infrastructure. Bhore committee showcased several reforms to achieve health coverage.
