Photojournalist SL Shanth Kumar travels through the slums in Dharavi, documenting people’s homes, which are not more than 100sq. feet built in between small alleyways just big enough for one person to pass at a time.

In its fight against the COVID19 pandemic, the Indian government extended a complete National lockdown till May3.

Dharavi, Asia’s largest and most densely populated slum, has been declared a hotspot and has been under complete locked down in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Most of the residents of this slum are daily or contract workers who now find themselves out of work and with no income.

Adding to this problem is the higher than normal temperatures being experienced in the city as summer approaches, with no proper ventilation.

People are grappling not only for fresh air but are also dealing with anxiety, stress, a feeling of being trapped and boredom.

Thank you SL Shanth Kumar, for your ongoing documentation of the lives of the stranded, the deprived, and the hapless populaces.
