Madhuri Dixit Adds Star Power To AIF’s Women-Child Health Care Symposium

The American India Foundation partnered with Stanford Medicine to host a symposium on maternal and child health care in India Oct. 14, an event which saw a string of high-profile speakers, including Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit and her husband, Dr. Shriram Nene. “For a woman it’s very difficult, and the problem of the woman begins when she is in the womb, to be born or not to be born; she comes out in the world with a big question mark, and that follows her through life,” Dixit said at the symposium, which brought together leaders in academia, philanthropy, and technology to better understand how community activism and cost-effective innovation can improve healthcare access in India and other nations in the developing world.
