Cinematic tribute on the 100th anniversary of the First World War

~5th Jagran Film Festival, Mumbai to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the First World War~

​The year 2014 marks 100 years since the start of the First World War. The First World War, 1914-1918 was the watershed event of the 20th century. Looking back at the depictions of the horrors, triumphs, and humanity of the First World War, the 5th Jagran Film Festival, 2014, India’s only touring film festival will mark the 100th anniversary and presents a special section of fine classic and contemporary cinema that depict the havoc and horrors of the First World War at its finale in Mumbai.

Scheduled between 22nd September, 2014 to 28th September, 2014 at PVR Cinemas, Andheri and Cinemax, Versova, the festival will dedicate a special section for First World War movies that will aim at revisiting the horrors of war in order to understand and value world peace and its benefits.  A special panel of members have selected the most significant war films that were inspired by the conflict of the First World War.​

​The films to be screened include Grand Illusion (La Grande Illusion) directed by Jean Renoir, La France directed by Serge Bozon​ and Jules and Jim (Jules et Jim) directed by François Truffaut.

​Alongside the screening of First World War cinema, the festival will also showcase an exciting line up of films in diverse genres from every corner of the world. The festival will feature films under several sections: Cinema of the Uprising, International Competition, Indian Showcase and Country Focus (Cyprus).

​Conceptualized to bring world-class cinema to its intended audience, Jagran Film Festival, Mumbai 2014 will be bigger and better.
