Salesforce.com CRM +0.43% CEO Marc Benioff astounded the ever-watching world earlier this year when he announced that the company would examine the compensation of each of its 16,000 employees to see if there was a gender pay gap GPS +3.85% at the company. At the time, Benioff thought the process would take a few years but as it turned out, it took only six months to not only to determine that that was a pay gap between the men and the women in comparable positions, but that the women were underpaid by an aggregate $3 million.
