Gynaecologists and obstetricians have set themselves a goal of reducing maternal mortality to achieve the Millennium Development Goals set for 2015. While the country’s maternal mortality rate dropped from 380 to 210 per lakh in 2013, it is still far short of the target of less than 100, said Dr. Kumaresan at the inaugural of the All India Congress of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
