In a special meeting for sustainable development in September, the World Health Organisation (WHO) will discuss the goals for the next 15 years. “It wants to end preventable maternal deaths and reduce non-preventable maternal deaths to 70 by 2030,” said Jacob Kumaresan, executive director, WHO, on Thursday. Gynaecologists and obstetricians have set themselves a goal of reducing maternal mortality to achieve the Millennium Development Goals set for 2015.
