Women Empowerment: Female Drivers To Soon Drive E-Rickshaws And Taxis

In a bid to bolster women empowerment, transport department had been providing driving lessons to women since International Women’s day last year. Taking this forward, Udaipur will soon have 24 women who will be driving e-rickshaws and taxis to support their family livelihood. The lady drivers have been undertaking driving lesson for past some time under Mission Meera and quire a few have also been provided driving licenses. Regional Transport Officer Dr Mannalal Rawat informed that efforts are now on to provide e-rickshaws to the ladies and/or get them jobs with taxi companies. Mission Meera was started with the objective of providing safe travel for women and for providing self sustenance to women. The mission was being monitored by Shrinathji Seva Sansthan.
