World Hypertension Day: How It Affects Indian Men And Women Differently

In a world where at least 1.13 billion adults are suffering from hypertension, May 17 is observed as World Hypertension Day, to create awareness about the issue while initiating efforts to tackle the same. Today, we're all constantly striving to improve and develop our lives in several aspects, with a healthy lifestyle being a key ingredient in the direction. A healthy lifestyle is but a distant dream when one's blood pressure spirals out of control, thus resulting in hypertension. Hypertension can be defined as the condition which occurs when an individual's blood pressure reads more than 140/90 MMHG (Prescribed standard). According to a report put together by Newsflicks, 66 per cent of the world population in developing countries is suffering from hypertension.
