A tearful Angelina Jolie accepted the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from director George Lucas.

Jolie’s latest project Unbroken, which she will soon begin filming in Australia, tells the true survival story of Zamperini. After his plane crashed in the Pacific, Zamperini survived 47 days in a drifting life-raft and was eventually captured by the Japanese.

Along with Jolie, Steve Martin and Angela Lansbury also received the honorary Oscars at the film academy’s fifth annual Governors Awards.
