Musicians on Call recently welcomed superstar Austin Mahone to a bedside performance program at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Miami. Austin first got involved with Musicians On Call in January, when he participated in the soon-to-be released multi-artist advocacy campaign, ’We’re On Call!’ But he wanted to do more! “I love Musicians On Call and how they deliver the music and joy right to the bedside of the patients,” says Austin. “I met one little girl who they told me hadn’t smiled in days, but when we left, her smile was brightening all of our souls. Knowing that we were able to bring her and the other kids and families a bit of joy during our visit is the best gift of all.” Austin stayed at the hospital for several hours, going room to room in multiple wards, taking photos with patients and their families, and then performing at a nurse’s station for two floors of patients, visitors, staff and volunteers (accompanied by Musicians On Call volunteer Phil Barnes). He generously brought teddy bears for every child in the hospital, and took the time to distribute them himself, as he visited the kids.
