The oldest part of Charleston has seven institutions of higher learning and close to 18,000 students flitting here and there. It’s also home to a significant cultured set: theater- and concertgoers, art lovers, foodies. And that’s to say nothing of the myriad others who like to take in a little entertainment once in a while. Yet there is no movie theater anywhere on the peninsula, and therefore no regular movie screenings. To see a film, you have to drive to the suburbs, or to points in North Charleston. You need a car.
