Day 2 At 6th Jagran Film Festival Offers A Film Feast

Delhi, July 02, 2015: Following an impactful day 1, the 6th Jagran Film Festival mesmerizes Delhi with its variety and renewed form. Cine-goers were overwhelmed with the vast spread of experiences that unfolded from watching iconic Indian and international films, to attending workshops, master classes and interacting with film wizards.

At the Siri Fort Auditorium, the vibe was upbeat through the day with coming-of-age romantic comedy 3 Idiots as the opening film and the 1939 epic historical romance filmGone With The Wind  as the closing film under the ‘Happiness’ category, which is also the theme for the year. All along the day, cinematic delights such as Sayten Bose’s crime thriller Jeevan Mrityu, Mahesh Bhatt’s critically acclaimed emotional dramaSaransh, and Kanak Mishra’s love story Saawan Ko Aane Do under Indian Retrospective segment; alongside the 2014 national award winning Oriya film Aadim Vichar, Malayalam film Kalippattakaaran (Toymaker) and Marathi film Postcard in the Indian Showcase, thoroughly entertained the film aficionados. World Panorama went Spanish with Director Sergio Castro San Martín’s film The Mud Woman.

A Special Screening was held for Mahesh Pailoor’s debut feature film Brahmin Bulls that portrays a son and father rediscovering their relationship. In the Out of Competitioncategory, director Ananth Mahadevan’s creativity shone bright with Gour Hari Dastan: The Freedom File, a biopic based on the life of Odia freedom fighter.

Jagran Film Festival’s flagship category Jagran Shorts that offers a national platform to short film makers from the world over brought to the fore films such as Spanish film 600 $, a 14 minute Hindi film A Briefcase, a short Tamil film Ahimsa, Arabic film Ailia and 26 minute Bengali film Ebby Tune (Ujantali). Mahesh Bhatt’s offbeat romantic thriller of 1991, Sadak paid homage to late actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar’s abundant talent.

For film aspirants, a workshop that featured Pooja Bhatt in conversation with Ajay Brahmatmaj was the highlight for its immense takeaways. Actor turned director Pooja Bhatt touched upon her film world journey while also speaking about prospects and aspects of film-making as a career.

At the American Centre auditorium, action led to inspiration when the 1976 American sports drama Rocky played under the Country Focus category. The movie was exclusively showcased at “The American Center” Kasturbha Gandhi Marg.

Promising to present some of the finest works of cinematic geniuses, India’s only travelling film festival, ‘Jagran’, features a notable selection of Indian and world cinema classics and contemporary films.  Showcasing more than 100 feature and short films this year, Jagran Film Festival in its 6th edition is slated to be an eyeful treat for one and all.

 The 2015 edition of Jagran Film Festival will traverse from Delhi to the Indian hinterlands of Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Agra, Meerut, Dehradun, Hisar, Ludhiana, Patna, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Raipur, Indore, and Bhopal before culminating in Mumbai.  In close collaboration with festival partners such as Whistling Woods International (WWI), Film Federation of India (FFI) and Motion Picture Dist. Association (India) Pvt. Ltd. (MPDA), the 2015 edition is all set to surpass its own last benchmarks of presenting over 16 cinema appreciation workshops, 400 screenings in 17 cities, that were witnessed by a direct audience of more than 50000 film aficionados and a media reach-out to nearly 50 million people in India in 2014.

The 6th edition of the Jagran Film Festival, Delhi 2015 is scheduled from 1st – 5th July, 2015 at Siri Fort Auditorium, Delhi.
