I&B Ministry Proposal Can Benefit Indian Filmmakers

Sometime ago, the Information & Broadcasting Ministry, in a bid to make India a film-friendly destination, came up with a proposal to fund Indian films representing the country abroad. To support films that participate in reputed international film festivals, an amount of Rs 50 lakh has been proposed to be set aside while the films aiming for the Oscars will get Rs 1 crore. This is aimed at helping filmmakers cope with travel costs, publicity and for hiring marketing agents. Considering the fact that many Marathi films travel to film festivals across the world and bring laurels to the country, we spoke to filmmakers about this proposal and got to know how it would help them.
