Global home appliance giant SharkNinja has officially deepened its India focus by partnering with celebrity chef Kunal Kapur, signalling the growing importance of smart cooking technology in Indian households.
The collaboration brings together Shark, known globally for homecare and beauty products, and Ninja, the world’s leading air fryer brand, with one of India’s most recognised culinary personalities. The announcement is more than a celebrity endorsement. It reflects a broader shift in urban Indian kitchens, where convenience, speed, and intelligent cooking systems are increasingly becoming necessities rather than luxuries.
India’s food culture has traditionally been associated with elaborate preparation, layered spices, and labour-intensive techniques. Yet, younger urban consumers balancing demanding careers and fast-paced lifestyles are looking for appliances that simplify the process without compromising authenticity.

Backed by over 5,500 patents globally, the company aims to position itself as a technology-first lifestyle brand for Indian homes. Through this partnership, Chef Kapur will demonstrate how smart appliances can adapt to Indian cooking rather than replace it. His emphasis on precision, timing, and temperature reflects how modern kitchen technology is increasingly aligning itself with traditional culinary practices.

The Cost of Caregiving for Women

A new survey by Indeed has revealed a striking reality: 83 percent of women respondents in India said they chose not to apply for a job because caregiving responsibilities made the role difficult to manage.
The findings offer a sobering snapshot of the modern Indian workplace. Despite increasing conversations around women’s empowerment and workforce participation, caregiving continues to shape professional choices in profound ways.

The survey, conducted across major Indian cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, and Kolkata, reveals how flexibility has become one of the most important factors in career decision-making. Flexible work hours emerged as the top priority for women evaluating jobs, followed closely by hybrid and remote working opportunities.

What is especially revealing is the willingness of many women to sacrifice income for flexibility. Nearly eight out of ten respondents said they would either accept lower pay or consider doing so in exchange for improved work-life balance.
For years, flexibility was marketed as an employee “perk.” Today, it has become essential infrastructure for participation in the workforce itself.
The survey also reflects growing resistance to rigid return-to-office mandates. More than half the respondents said they had declined interviews or job offers because of office attendance expectations. Job descriptions lacking clarity around flexibility or requiring full-time office presence were viewed as major deterrents.

The findings place increasing pressure on employers to rethink workplace structures if they hope to retain female talent. In a competitive employment landscape, companies offering transparency, realistic expectations, and meaningful flexibility may ultimately emerge stronger.
Beyond statistics, the report also reveals a larger societal truth: caregiving remains disproportionately gendered in India. Until domestic responsibilities are more equitably shared, women’s professional growth will continue to carry invisible compromises.

Celebrity Sport for Social Change

Actors Bhumi Pednekar and Parul Gulati joined hands with YODA and PadelPark India for “Padel for Paws,” a large-scale charity fundraiser supporting animal welfare.
Held at the Phoenix HSBC Racquet Club, the event brought together celebrities, athletes, influencers, and Mumbai’s social community around India’s fastest-growing sport — padel.

The fundraiser reportedly raised over ₹12 lakh, with participation from more than 150 players and an audience exceeding 500 attendees. But beyond the numbers, the event reflected the emergence of a new kind of urban philanthropy, where entertainment, fitness, and activism increasingly intersect.

Padel itself has become symbolic of aspirational metropolitan culture — social, energetic, and community-driven. By combining the sport with animal welfare advocacy, organisers managed to create an event that felt contemporary, socially conscious, and accessible.
The involvement of public figures such as Bhumi Pednekar and Parul Gulati also highlights how celebrity engagement is evolving beyond endorsements into issue-based participation. Animal welfare, environmental causes, mental health awareness, and sustainability are increasingly becoming central to celebrity-driven public campaigns.
For YODA, one of India’s respected animal welfare organisations, the event also represented an opportunity to reach younger urban audiences who may not engage with traditional charity campaigns.
