Melbourne International Film Festival Must-Sees
by The Daily Eye Team July 13 2015, 3:46 pm Estimated Reading Time: 0 mins, 56 secsThe complete 2015 Melbourne International Film Festival program has been announced and we must admit to feeling slightly overwhelmed by the sheer number of intriguing films being screened across our fair city. The 64th Melbourne International Film Festival rolls into town in late July, and thought-provoking features, documentaries, shorts and a special selection of Cannes titles will be screened until mid-August.
Organisers teased us with an initial offering back in May but have since released the full enchilada. Opening with Australian director Paul Cox’s Force of Destiny, starring David Wenham, on July 30, tongues will inevitably be set a-wagging as attendees digest everything this fortnight-long festival has to offer.
A number of films will have their world premiere at the festival, including Ecco Homo by filmmakers Lynn-Maree Milburn and Richard Lowenstein, about artist and performer Peter Vanessa “Troy” Davies; Downriver by Grant Scicluna, the story of one man’s path to redemption starring Reef Island (Puberty Blues) and Kerry Fox (Intimacy), and documentaries Neon by Lawrence Johnston and Nicole Ma’s Putuparri and the Rainmakers.
