On being asked by The Indian Express about female actors alleging that they are paid less, Aamir said, “We are still living in a patriarchal society and male dominated mindsets. Payments are made on the basis of how much crowd an actor can attract in the theaters and all that producers are bothered about is their film getting popular. There was a time when Salim-Javed (writer) were the highest paid and their names getting flashed on screens was enough to make film a blockbuster.”
