Sky Ferreira is to perform a concert to raise funds for David Lynch’s transcendental meditation charity as she is convinced the technique saved her life. The pop star will take to the stage at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in New York City on 9 July (14) at a fundraiser for the David Lynch Foundation. The moviemaker’s charity supports stress reducing programs and focuses on Transcendental Meditation (TM), one of the most commonly practised forms of mantra meditation. Ferreira announced the news on Instagram.com on Wednesday (18Jun14), writing, “Playing Music Hall Of Williamsburg on July 9th with David Lynch Foundation…The funds go towards Transcendental Meditation (TM) programs for at-risk students; veterans with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder); women who are survivors of domestic violence; American Indians suffering from diabetes; the homeless and incarcerate.” Ferreira has a personal connection to the charity, confessing that the TM technique helped her turn her life around. She adds, “TM sort of saved my life. I’m being 100 per cent, for real. Come support. Also… It’s for my number one person in the world. David Lynch! This show is going to be special.
