Mumbai, October 10, 2014: In order to understand the scenario of alternative care for children living with or without parental care in India. SOS Children’s Villages (SOS), along with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) organized a state seminar on Quality Care of every Child at TISS premises. SOS Children’s Villages (SOS), is a globally active NGO working towards providing secure and loving homes for abandoned children in India.

During the seminar, discussions revolved around different models of care including institutional care, non-institutional measures, alternate care, statutory requirements and the United Nations Guidelines. The great speakers from TISS, UNICEF, and Child’s Aid Society analyzed the current scenario of alternative care without parental care or family support.

On this occasion, Mr. Rakesh Jinsi, Secretary General, SOS Children’s Villages of India said, “As part of our initiative to support children in all spheres of life, we are happy to conduct this seminar which aimed at spreading awareness on quality care of children. Providing for the child not just the social investment, but the right of children to be able to get opportunities to exercise their full potential and have a voice in the process of their own growth and development.”

Mr. A.N Tripathi, Secretary for the Maharashtra State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights was present at the event among other dignitaries. There were over 100 participants from across the state belonging to various sectors associated with child care actively involved in sharing and discussing the quality of care being provided to children today. 

Recently SOS Children’s Villages of India was accredited with CRISIL Rating of VO-2A indicating SOS’s “Strong Delivery Capability and High Financial Proficiency”. With this, SOS becomes the first NGO to undergo evaluation process especially designed for Voluntary Organizations’ by CRISIL. CRISIL is a credible rating agency which provides an objective and independent third-party opinion. SOS has also been awarded an Accreditation Certificate for “Desirable norms”, the highest form of rating by Credibility Alliance for a period of five years from 29th May 2014 to 28th May 2019.
