Addressing presspersons here on Monday after holding a review meeting with officials, she said that the amendment, if implemented, could be misused by people who will make children work as domestic helps and thereby deprive them of schooling. She said that the amendment should not be implemented, as it would have an adverse impact on students. “We are strongly in favour of retaining the original Act without bringing in the proposed amendments,” Ms. Alva added.
