“Women can’t do this role.” “We don’t need women in leadership roles.” “This role is tech-driven. Let’s not look at women.” Progressive workplaces in India don’t want their leaders and managers to say these oft-repeated words.

A host of them are going a step ahead and training their managers in what they call “unconscious bias” — the prejudices that develop because of factors such as background and experience. In their pursuit to become gender-neutral, companies are striving to eliminate this bias from their corporate culture.
