For Oliver Charity, there are no genres, only good music and bad music.

“I love music to death,” he said. Born in Virginia, Charity’s father was in the military, and when Charity was in third grade, his family spent time in El Paso, where his parents eventually retired.

After growing up in El Paso, Charity moved to Las Cruces after high school to attend New Mexico State University, where he studied journalism and the seeds were planted and sewn for his musical destiny.

Charity spun tracks — especially hip-hop — as a DJ at several fraternity parties before meeting John Mellon, of the band Mellon’s Spicy Food, joining the band in the early 90s.
