Vaccinations for children a must, says Advertiser.com.au survey
by The Daily Eye Team March 4 2014, 1:59 pm Estimated Reading Time: 0 mins, 35 secsThe 81.9 per cent of people in favor of making lifesaving vaccinations mandatory for children was the highest response to any issue in the Future SA health survey which attracted 1031 respondents. Vaccination narrowly beat euthanasia as the area with most support, with 81.2 per cent in favor of legalizing voluntary euthanasia. The massive stride forward in public health from immunization has been watered down in recent years by a vocal minority opposition and apathy as diseases of previous generations fade from consciousness.
The United Nations estimates vaccinations save around nine million lives a year and have brought seven major diseases under some degree of control — smallpox, diphtheria, tetanus, yellow fever, whooping cough, polio and measles.
