Being part of society, students had a chance to unleash their creativity by making models on rainwater harvesting system, presenting their ideas through drawings and forming human chains. Organised by the Education Department at Bharathi Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School in Maravaneri, students from 60 schools presented their models on the methods of harvesting rainwater at households. Simple models showed how rain water falling on the terrace of a house could be harvested with the little available space in the house. “The message is to tell people that water problem could be solved if the system is in place. It is a permanent solution for the water problem”, M. Kumar, a Class XI student said. Many students said that only if the water is saved now, their generation will not face any water problems in few years. “Responsibility lie with each household for creating a prosperous society”, they added.
