DHOOM 3 – GOOD STORY & STYLE, NOT MUCH EXCITEMENT

DHOOM 3 – ONLY STYLE, NO EXCITEMENT.

I was very anxious to view Dhoom 3, since I assumed that Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan’s presence in the movie will take the Dhoom franchise a notch above the earlier 2 instalments.

The plot this time is better. There is a reason behind the robberies carried out by Aamir Khan. The motive is revenge against the Bank who was responsible for the suicide of his father (Jackie Shroff), owner of the Great Indian Circus.

As usual , it is cat and mouse game between the hero Jay Dikshit (Abhishek Bacchan) with his sidekick Ali (Uday Chopra) and the villain Sahir (Aamir Khan). In one of the chase sequence, Sahir is shot by Jay Dikshit but is unable to find the bullet mark in Sahir’s body. This baffles Jay Dikhsit and Ali ‘s encouragement propels Jay Dikhsit to find out the truth. The story takes a twist from there onwards.

Aamir Khan has acted well but in some parts he doesn’t look convincing and looks like a miscast in this movie. Seems, the producers have cast him to cash on his unique star power. Abhishek Bacchan looks jaded in the role of Jay Dikshit. Uday Chopra as Ali is the only character who has acted well and entertains as usual in all the 3 franchisees. But this time, his screen time has been cut short. What about the heroine and other female cast? They do not have much of a role to play. There are only 2 female characters in the movie. Katrina Kaif as Alia is ok in her brief role and looks pretty as usual.

Dhoom & Dhoom 2 were superb – had lots of glamour, excellent music, good songs, entertainment and exciting bike chase sequences. Alas, Dhoom3 lacks everything. The movie may make crores and even break box office records (in reality or fake publicity figures) due to marketing hype and release in 3000+ screens. There are bike chase scenes as usual but they do not have that power to create excitement. The music is a big letdown. The movie is shot well, that’s all. The climax sequence is shot very beautifully but the climax of the movie is a big letdown. Seems, only Sanjay Gadhvi (original director of earlier 2 Dhooms) can take this franchisee a notch higher.
