Baywatch is a remake of the well-known TV series of the 90s. Seth Gordan’s version of Baywatch has further sexualized the movie and has turned it to crime film, which has failed horribly.

Mitch is the head lifeguard and Matt Brody is the new recruit who is kind of not serious about his job. Matt is in the awe of Mitch as he’s an ex-Olympic swimmer. As far as the women are concerned in the movie, it’s all about them running on the beach in slow motion which is perhaps the only reason why Baytwatch the film, even comes to peoples minds in the first place.

The chemistry of Mitch Buchannon (The Rock) and Matt Brody (Zac Efron) in the movie is great however. Victoria Leeds (Priyanka Chopra) is a haut monde club owner and deals illegally in Flakka, which is the most dangerous drug in demand at Emerald bay. During his morning jog Mitch finds Flakka on the beach lying next to a kid who is playing in the sand on the beach. He suspects Leeds.
There are a lot of boobs, beach, and shirtless chests at the beginning of the film.

As they are put to test to get new people on the lifeguard team, Mitch and Brody get confrontational, which is slightly engaging and then the bullying that takes place also gets your attention. A little fun comes when Mitch calls out to Brody, “Where are you from? One Direction?”
Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron are introduced in style and they kinda completely steal the show as the female cast has precious little to do with none of their characters defined at all. The plot looks distorted and the edit seems to have gone way beyond wrong. The film is tacky and lacks detail, as even the stuntman’s face is clearly visible at the time when Zac Efron tries to jump off the bike to save a woman from drowning.

But the plot does thicken somewhat, and starts to get a little bit more of your attention when it is found that the politician who is threatened by Victoria for not getting her job done was dead on the boat before it was found that she had drowned. After the politicians dead body is found on the beach, Mitch who is a utopian by nature feels like nothing around the beach looks good anymore, whereas Brody is clearly of the view that the job of the policeman is to investigate and beyond that what happens is none of his business. Soon Mitch gets fired from his job and Brody is left alone to get the job done. Mitch realizes his mistake and helps Brody solve the case. Mitch is also the one to discover that the drugs had been smuggled in Victoria’s yacht.

It’s difficult to understand what the plot is and where it is headed, throughout the film, and therefore Baywatch – the film, keeps its promise of being more disappointing than its own trailers. Dwayne Johnson, Priyanka Chopra and Zac Efron are the only characters, which barely make some sense in the movie and the rest are inconsequential.

With all the cameos of David Hasslehoff and Pamela Anderson in place, yet the movie does nothing even for those who have spent their money to see sexy men and women running around at the beach in bikini’s and shorts. Baywatch – the film, fails miserably!
