True Review TV - Extravaganzas Over The Weekend.
by Piroj Wadia August 2 2015, 12:38 am Estimated Reading Time: 2 mins, 49 secsThe highpoint of June was the finale of India?s Got Talent Season 6 on Colors. An emotional moment on screen, as well as in homes across the country, was when Kolkata-based aerial gymnast Manik Paul clinched the trophy, Rs 50 lakh and the Maruti Celerio. ?He is the first individual winner, as the earlier season winners have been dance groups, a choir and a gymnast group. It was an unscripted rags to riches event, for Paul (and his mother), who spent most of his childhood and teenage years battling poverty after his father passed away. From the start of IGT Season 6, Paul stunned viewers, judges and special guests with his athletic and graceful moves. IGT draws out talent from the corners of the country and gives them the unconditional platform to showcase their act.? Even those who don?t win, they still earn the recognition for their talent and are invited to perform. The final episode was an extravaganza by itself, with television celebrities performing alongside the finalists. The drone out-did Bharti's stand-up routine.?? Manik and Yogeshwari danced alongside actress Elli Avram and choreographer Tushar. While, Raftaar rapped with Parry G and Harmanpreet. The fly in the ointment was a flashback of the whole season screened in a Bollywood movie format with Karan as hero, Malaika as heroine, Kirron as mother, Bharti as the hero's sister and Sidharth as the lover boy.?Though Kirron and Sidharth were entertaining in their dance medley. The production values of IGT get better by the year. IGT is one of the paisa vasool shows of Colors, with loads of entertainment, gags and gaffes and guest stars in almost every episode. Got to hand it to Kirron Kher, she is the only judge who has been in the chair since the very first season. She is the IGT mascot, with her fabulous saris, each with a pallu gorgeous enough for her to cover her face and peek at daring act underway. Like always, after IGT is always followed by Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. The spillover in the past was Karan Johar. This year Jhalak has undergone a change. The final episode of IGT presented glimpses of Jhalak Reloaded with a clip wherein Karan Johar introduces Shahid Kapoor as the new judge of the upcoming dance reality show. Faisal Khan, a contestant matched his moves with the Beat Breakers. The stage is getting set for Jhalak Reloaded which comes with a fresh bench of judges. Shahid Kapoor?is replacing ?Madhuri Dixit, choreographer?Ganesh Hegde?will be in place of ??Remo D'Souza and the glam quotient is Lauren Gottlieb, a former Jhalak contestant and guest dancer. The contestants will have to really watch their moves with this trio of judges, each a dancer of high standards. Watch out ??Kavita Kaushik,?Radhika Madan,?Sargun Mehta,?Sanaya Irani,?Deepika Samson,?Mohit Malik,?Aashish Chaudhary,?Faisal Khan,?Nora Fatehi,?Puneet Issar,?Neha Marda?and?Vivian Dsena. Wonder whose pallu will Manish Paul clutch on to this time? Between the weekend of the IGT finale and the launch of Jhalak Reloaded, couch potatoes can feast their eyeballs on IIFA awards the Bollywood extravaganza this time goes to Kuala Lumpur. Perhaps the weekend entertainers will make rained out weekends bearable. NB: In July, it?s curtains for Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane and Mahakumbh. The latter planned and the former has the plug pulled because of low TRPs.
