2014 Global Accelerator: Thought-Provoking Words from Social Entrepreneurs

The 2014 Global Accelerator’s overarching message was a straightforward one: innovation and entrepreneurship can change the world for the better. A select group of leading entrepreneurs arrived at the United Nations Headquarters committed to this narrative and eager to make progress on the Millennium Development Goals in new and creative ways. I attended the inaugural Accelerator as a staff member at Blue State Digital (BSD), which builds and mobilizes communities on behalf of some of the world’s leading causes, campaigns, and brands. The BSD team worked with the UN Foundation to create globalaccelerator.org, an online space to engage social entrepreneurs. As I settled into my seat before our morning welcome session in the Economic and Social Council Chamber, I thought of Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus’s interview with Huff post Live at the 2014 World Economic Forum.
