Bollywood Nights is a festive party that celebrates the culture of India. “It’s going to be a fun gala to benefit our charity Children Across Borders,” says group co-founder Vivek Seth. “There’s going to be lots of dancing, lots of great food, and hopefully a fun time for everybody.” People attending can expect drums and music, including a performance by the group Penn Masala, and also a chance to meet Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi. The black-tie event, is also a place for people to show off their formal fashions from India. “Most of our community uses it as an opportunity to go out and get a real nice Indian outfit and it’s really, really colorful,” says Vivek with a smile. Vivek and his wife Sharmila met in New York City, but both were born in India and they wanted to find a way to give back to their homeland, so they formed the charity Children Across Borders. The money raised from Bollywood Nights will go to six organizations in Tampa and six in India. See a list of beneficiaries here.
