At the start of the summer, Peter wrote an article wondering if 2015 was “the summer Hollywood finally bet big on women.” There were plenty of titles to support that impression, from Tomorrowland to Mad Max: Fury Road to Trainwreck. Now that we’ve reached the end of the season, we thought we’d look back and consider how Hollywood’s big bet on women played out in practice — and whether this era of female-driven blockbusters might continue.
