Maternal and child health is one of the most pressing of primary health issues that face our country today. Around 800 women die from pregnancy or childbirth related complications globally every day, according to the World Health Organization statistics. That is one woman every 90 seconds. Hence, addressing Maternal and child health Issues in the world of films, television and advertising, a panel discussion was organised by social organisation ACEE – The Third Eye with an objective to showcase varied perspectives from the world of advertisement, films and television, and social development on the relevance of pre and post natal care in maternal health as an important aspect of public health and social concern.
