Stars Unite On Earth Day For Annual Farm Animal Protection Benefit

Cory Booker, D-N.J., and the late Christina Grimmie on April 22 at its annual To the Rescue! Los Angeles Gala benefit at Paramount Studios. The evening broke the HSUS Los Angeles Gala fundraising record, raising more than $1.4M for the organization’s Farm Animal Protection campaign, with the help of Pharrell’s impromptu fundraising efforts during his performance. Humane Society of the United States President and CEO Wayne Pacelle welcomed the crowd. Actress Elizabeth Banks presented Sen. Booker with his award, while Grimmie’s award was presented to her family by singer Rachel Platten, who also performed a moving musical tribute. Noah Cyrus and Pharrell Williams also performed.
