The students, who are enrolled under the National Service Scheme, arrived at the bus stop closest to their college, guided by two teachers. Resmi Varghese, who was heading the clean-up, said that the students had earlier been involved in cleaning up railway stations and public spaces. She told The Times of India, “The motive behind this was to send a strong message to the people so that they can derive inspiration from the act.”
